Hey Guys is there anyway to unmange multiple sites or app pools via the API or SWIS?
If not, has anyone unmanaged these via the database?
Input appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Great news! The Server & Application Monitor (SAM) 6.6 Release Candidate is now available, and in the customer portal. What's even better, is that you can sign up for a dev assisted upgrade. Those who participate will receive 3000 Thwack points, which can be redeemed for cool stuff from the THWACK Store!
Developer Assisted Upgrades are an excellent way for you to get up and running successfully with the latest release candidate. Upgrades are conducted via Webex with representatives from Product Management, Engineering, and Support to answer upgrade related questions, provide recommendations, as well as promptly resolve any issues which arise during the upgrade process. Please note that slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

I'm monitoring several internal http sites in SAM and have alerts set for when they go down. The sites in question use non-standard http ports - say in this example TCP port 10100
I'm struggling to find a variable to insert into a SAM alert that will show the TCP port value that im monitoring. The only work round thats works for me at the moment is to also put the value 10100 into user notes and insert this variable ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.UserNotes} into the body of the text.
Is there any way for me to pull the "Port Number" setting in the component straight into the body of an alert mail? - maybe a custom query?
Thanks!
We have lateley seen several servers with svchost processes consuming 1GB or more memory. The first process identified was for Remote Registry. The Remote Registry component monitor was one of the monitors enabled in the Windows 2003-2008 template. Once we disabled the monitor (and restarted the service), this issues has gone away. This KB article seems to indicate that there is a bug in Win2008 wherein external monitors polling of Remote Registry causes a memory leak. Remote Registry service leaks memory when it handles customized v2 performance counter queries in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
We are also seeing svchost.exe running very high with the netsrvcs processes - there are several in this group, and we haven't isolated it yet, wondering if this to could be caused by SolarWinds polling. Netsrvcs covers winmngt, rpc, etc - all the things that doing WMI polling could affect.wmi Going through the obvious steps- monitoring the process after a reboot, removing component monitors, etc.
This one is causing some headache in our environment. - anyone out there see this as well?
The example it gives for complex alerts is when you want to alert when (Application A on server X goes down) AND (Application B on server Y) goes down.
Is there a way to alert when (Application A AND Application B) on server X goes down, where server X can be any server?
Hi,
I have had been using Sitescope and can say it was fairly easy to find a Relevant monitor there and go about doing the task to monitor almost all the components.
I have a need to get rid of Sitescope and instead use SAM and NPM (NCM and NTA too though).
I am unable to find a PORT monitor template in SAM so far. I thought it was in there and fairly would be straight forward to use.
I have the following few examples to monitor now from Solarwinds that I was doing from Sitescope so far.
The devices that I need to monitor these PORTS on are Bluecoat proxy; a few other may be Servers as well.
If someone can please help me with how to go about it in SAM/NPM would be great help to say the least.

Hello THWACK!
I am trying to figure out if I can update an alert so it shows more information when the email is generated. When the top alert is generated it fills in the variables with what happened and sends out an alert. When the bottom alert goes out it does not update any of the variables it sends out the alert with what is in bottom part of the image below. Can I update the bottom alert to look like the top?
Not sure if this matters but for the top alert it is configured to check on an application and the second alert is set to configure on a component. Thanks!
Hello Community,
Has anyone thrown together an Cisco ISE template for tracking the processes and other key areas of ISE? I have tried adding some of the SSH templates and running the "show application status ise" however, they keep timing out at the prompt. Has anyone figured this out yet?
Thank you,
JAF
When our F5 fails over, the out of the box alerts for "F5 Alert me when virtual server is not up", "F5 Alert me when server is not up" and "F5 Alert me when virtual IP address is not Up" flood us.
This is what I think would fix this for us:
Is there a way to do this?

I am new to the SAM module and would like to know that if my IIS cert is expired, will it break my SAM? I mean can I still operate SAM without a cert? It is showing up red in my web console and I am in the process of renewing but wanted some feedback.
Hello All,
We are going to implement Orion NPM and SAM module in our environment. We wanted to to perform below mentioned activities.
Enrichment like message enrichment, severity or priority enrichment
Suppression and blackout of events
Correlation of events: Suppose we have servers connected with switch. If switch goes down , then it should close/suppress server down events
Can anyone provide me steps or documentation or videos to achieve this configuration ?
Thanks in Advance ..!!
Regards,
Pratik N
Hello everyone,
I have a question for you all and I know the answer/answers will more than likely be subjective and that's fine. I'm just curious what some of your own Solarwinds deployment experiences were like.
Quick backstory:
The company that I work for purchased SAM and Patch Manager last year and we have been up and running with it for nearly 4 months now. They gave me the fine job of being the sole Solarwinds Admin, which means I am responsible for every aspect of the Solarwinds deployment, configuration, and maintenance (VMs, SQL DB, Alerts, Custom Application Monitors, etc. etc.)
I would say that we are a small to midsized environment – I just pulled the current Platform/License Details from our setup (see below). Keep in mind that I only have about half of our environment currently being monitored by Solarwinds so these numbers will definitely increase over the couple few months.
In your own environments, how long did it take you in you to completely stand up Solarwinds –
1. Hours spent per week?
2. How many months to complete?
3. Did you have a team or did you stand it up solo?
4. What product(s) did you configure? (SAM, NPM, LEM, DPA, etc.)
In your opinions, what would you asses the workload would be for a sole admin standing up SW in an environment of our size?
Just something I’ve been curious about. I’ve spoken with other colleagues that have deployed and worked with SW in the past and they all have looked at me like I’m insane when I tell them that I am doing this by myself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Looking forward to hearing your stories!

We have several sub-organizations under our root AWS organization. Is there a way to monitor those sub-orgs using only an IAM account in the root org or do I have to create a Solarwinds account inside of every organization?
