I am trying to alleviate congestion in the Alerts log and Events log and make them easier to read. There are multiple events being enter for a single event. For example, I have the following setup:
Application Template - App1 - SQL Performance Monitors
Component Monitor - SQL Page Life Expectancy
Component Monitor - SQL Buffer Cache Hit Ratio
Application Template - App2 - SQL Performance Monitors
Component Monitor - SQL Page Life Expectancy
Component Monitor - SQL Buffer Cache Hit Ratio
Group - Status - All SQL Performance Monitors
Group - Status - All Applications
Group - Status - Datacenter-1 (includes environmental and network monitors)
The groups are used to display the status of each datacenter in the EOC.
If the SQL Page Life Expectancy goes into a critical state, I get an event logged for the component monitor, application template, and every group. that is 5 events for the initial alerts and 5 more on the reset. In the Advanced Alert Monitor, I can find alerts for the components only. The trigger action have one email action and one NetPerfMon Event Log action. I have some alerts the have 6-7 events logged.
Is there a way to have only the component level monitors log events to the NetPerfMon log? And if there is does that effect the alert roll up through the groups to the EOC?event
