Automating Application Creation
I'm fairly new to Solarwinds and have created an application and application monitors for all my SQL Server nodes to watch for status of the services. There are other monitors I want to create with different time intervals but I don't want to waste my time manually creating it and adding 150 nodes. I'm pretty good with Powershell and immediately thought there must be a way to create the application and use powershell to add the nodes. I've not been able to find any information on the schema sufficient to allow me to do this. Does anyone have information on the steps that would be needed to automate this?

Appinsight SQL Job Agent info UNKNOWN
Hey all,
Ive got an app insight template that is green for eveything but Job Agent. I get the error.....
No valid data was received. The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'syssessions', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'. Invalid object name '#job_results'.

Changing of Polling Engine for Multiple devices
Looking to change the polling engine from A to B for more than one device at once.
We have multiple devices having Polling Engine A. Now we have to change them from A to B. Since the volume of the devices are more, please advise, how to change all of them at a time.

Powershell Output Message Problem
Hello,
I have a problem with the output of a power shell script.
In other forum posts I have read that I can define the output by means of
Write host "Statistic.name: Value"
or
Write host "Message.name: Value"
However, I am not able to generate an output with message (see picture).
Anybody have any idea what's causing this?

Cloud Infrastructure Monitor - Reports?
Has anyone done reporting in Orion on Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring elements?
My scenario...I have a bunch of AWS accounts, I'm doing CloudWatch API polling and getting all the expected metrics. Since all my accounts are monitored in orion (and the AWS console is terrible) I thought Orion would be a good place to run a report showing, globally, certain cloud-specific information. It almost accomplishes what I need, but here's where it is kind of falling apart...
I want a report that shows all running instances and whether or not they have an elastic IP associated. I can kind of get at that info by getting a report of all running instances and including a column with the external dns name (which only shows up when there's an elastic IP attached). However, I have observed some instances where there is an elastic IP associated, but no external dns record...so it's incomplete.
The available data points for the report do not include the ip addresses, however the ip addresses are shown in the "node details page" for the monitored instances. Similarly, I'd like to also see the security groups associated, but again, even though i can see that by going to the details page for the instance, I can't get to that info from reports.
I am using the Custom Table resource...filtering to "status is equal to up" and i've added Owner (account id), description, public dns name, region display name. Those 4 items work fine, I just can't see a way to get at the ip addres(es) & security group(s) associated to the instances.
Any thoughts anyone out there?

Linux command output monitor
Hi,
I would like to monitor output of a single command on a linux server.
Command: uptime | awk -F'load average:' '{print$2}' | cut -f1 -d,
This will return output like 0.00
How can i execute this if i use a script monitor for linux?
Anybody having any idea about this?

Duplicated alert sends original email and edited email
Using SAM 6.6.1.
I selected "Duplicate and Edit" on an alert. Under the Trigger Actions I edited the "Copy of ...", renamed it to a unique name and changed the email content. When the alert is triggered it sends out the edited email and it also sends an email with the original text from the original alert that I duplicated. There is only one entry under Trigger Actions and it is my edited version.
The last line in the email action shows that it is coming from this Alert.
Any idea why it is also running the original action from the alert that I duplicated, even though it isn't listed under Trigger Actions?

Issues with agent monitoring in Azure
Hello,
I'm trying to configure an APE in Azure, main pooler and database is hosted on prem. Installation of APE in Azure went without issues, configuration wizard configured it properly, it has green status in "Pooling Enginges" and database is syncing as well.
Now I'm trying to install agent on the test VM - I point it to the public address of the APE in Azure, installations finishes, node is registered in "Manage Agents" but it's registered with Azure private address and status is showing as unknown, to fix this I edited the node and entered node public address, status is showing properly now however no other data is gathered, it looks like this:

When I go to list resources following window appears and it's stuck forever:

Is there any way to install plugins manually?
Firewall is not the issue here as this is just test environment so everything is allowed.

How do you change what version of PowerShell a SAM component uses?
Hello all,
We have a need to run some PowerShell scripts that use features of PowerShell 3 and above. We are running SAM 6.4.0 and we have PowerShell 4.0 installed everywhere but the SAM components still use PowerShell v 2.0.
How can we change it so SAM is using PowerShell 4.0 instead of 2.0?
Any direction would be appreciated!
