I have a questions I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to monitor enterprise level file shares without having to drop a file in every share in my environment which is hundreds. And our file share structure is a bit wacky as we migrated from polyserve to standard windows 2012 file sharing using DFS for the virtual file shares and names etc.. management basically wanted us to clone the old environment and put it into the new one.
With that being said the sys admin that helped set it up mentioned how it could be kind of complex to test for availability and what not. I know one of you gurus has a complex file share network and have to be monitoring for share availability somehow so any guidance on the best way to monitor the file share cluster to check for availability would be great.
I know my posting might be a bit vague or some info might be missing so if you have a good startingpoint get back to me and I can clarify any questions that may come up.
