Hi I am hoping for a sanity check here. We are having performance issues with our SAM server. Specifically when I click on a node it may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes before the page completely loads.
Editing a node or listing the resources takes even longer. Here are the specs:
Dell PowerEdge R710
32 GB of RAM
2 Quad Core Intel CPUs 2.13 Ghz
800 GB Raid-5 15K SAS drives
330 Nodes being monitored
3000 Components being monitored
I am using AppInsight to monitor the SQL db on our SAM server and it is noticing some issues with deadlocks, page read, writes/sec etc... Nothing has a critical status however. Our SQL DBA has configured SQL to use 24GB of 32 GB available. Is this a bad idea? Alternatively he has proposed to allow SQL to use all of SAMs memory. I think the issue maybe with how our SQL DB is configured.
I'd like to get a feel for what others in the SAM community are experiencing while viewing and modifying nodes. Wait times of a few seconds or are you also waiting for minutes to view the information for a node? In the past I have opened a ticket, but the folks in support claimed that we were getting pretty good response. Here's an example of why this is an issue, a system went down we received the alert as expected, but when we went to view the node after we brought it back up it took 3 minutes to view the node page. What's sad is this was the day after the outage. I think this is too long, but again I want to see what others are experiencing.
Many thanks,
Ron
