Just a sanity check to make sure I am not missing something....
We are a small IT dept and have system "owners". They are responsible for everything on that server including applications, as well as the hardware itself. I created a Custom Field called "Owner" and have applied it to all our nodes. When a node is added, the appropriate owner is entered in the field. When I create advanced alerts, I need to filter on "Owner" as part of the trigger condition as that determines to whom the page is sent (we each use our smartphones SMS capability). As a result of this, I have to copy a standard set of 7-8 alerts for each and every owner and update the "owner" value and the phone number appropriately. Is this the only way to achieve what I need or am I missing some nifty little feature? So my flow is:
if owned by admin A, page admin A
if owned by admin B, page admin B
I looked at Alert Central which may help simplify this flow, but I prefer to have a "standalone" alerting solution so that I don't need network connectivity for alerts to function. Our Orion node is bare metal with the SMS gateway and GSM modem local to the host. Will investigate using Hyper-V deployed locally later when I have cycles.
Thanks.
