My coworker updated server's name via registry w/o a restart. The polling engine was still displaying the old hostname in SW web console. After a restart, I got this when trying to navigate to SW web console:
There was an error communicating with the Orion server
No DNS entries exist for host NNN.
Help me fix this
- Confirm that the SolarWinds Information Service is running.
- On your local SolarWinds server, click Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right-click SolarWinds Information Service V3, and then click Start.
- Confirm that the SolarWinds Orion Module Engine service is running.
- On your local SolarWinds server, click Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right-click SolarWinds Orion Module Engine, and then click Start.
- Examine the specific details of the error for environmental hints to help resolve your issue.
- Refresh the web console browser.
- If still unresolved, click the troubleshooting help links below.
- After completing any changes, repeat the same task that generated this error.
Everything's running, the firewall is off. This looks like the result of the system's hostname change w/o corresponding polling engine name change. Am I right?
How do I fix this?
Tried going through SW Configuration Wizard and on the "Specify the SQL Server Database" step and attempting to use the existing one, it complained that the database is already in use by Solarwinds at NNN (which no longer exists).
