I'm attempting to set up monitoring of specific Oracle databases on different boxes. On Solaris nodes, I can use the real-time process explorer to look for certain processed and then start monitoring them. On Solaris, the process names are distinct, such that I can drill down to the process I want, such as "ora_pmon_dbname".
Same process on RHEL yields many nondistinct "Oracle" processes. If I run ps -ef | grep pmon on a RHEL box, I get the correct distinct process names. Mapping those PIDs to the real-time process explorer in Solarwinds against the same box shows the desired pmon processes are all listed as "Oracle".
I understand this is a difference in SNMP from the different OSes.
Anyone know of a workaround?
