SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: How to create a non-administrator user for SAM polling.
This knowledgebase article is extremely confusing!!! Has anyone got it to work?
I have followed the instructions with no problems until step 16. The article author used the account name SAMuser as the non-admin account for monitoring purposes.
On step 18 it says:
- Log on to the remote machine where you want to adapt security permissions under the non-administrator account.
- In a command window, type: Sc sdshow
2 issues here:
1) although the author setup SAMuser as his non-admin account the below screenshots clearly show he ran these commands while logged in as administrator and not the SAMuser account.
2) what argument needs to be ran with the Sc scshow command? the screenshot indicates the author ran Sc sdshow ProtectedStorage.
